HEART TO HEART
I Created a drawing involving love and loss using heart shapes. Included lovers, liars, friends, enemies, Biblical elements, angels, demons, gardens of eden, yin/yang contrasting fields of light and darks. A dichotomy.
I was hitting a creative wall and took as long as possible to achieve what I could bear ~ three hours a day for two years! Drawing erasing, drawing erasing until the finish. Afterward I spent another six months and made the same drawing using Procreate on my iPad Pro.
Every mark was made by the same mechanical pencil which is fastened to the rear of the original drawing frame.
Conclusion: 2 years later. Dimensions 19 x 19 inches (with additional 2 inch border)

SELF AWARENESS A LIFE JOURNEY
The painting uses the yin/yang symbol as its organizing structure. One half depicts Earth-bound human consciousness beginning with egg fertilization—the biological origin of individual awareness. The opposite half shows a multi-planetary civilization with spacecraft and interplanetary travel infrastructure.
Circling the yin/yang are one hundred generations of human figures, representing the ancestral lineage whose struggles and survival made current capabilities possible. These generations form a ring around the central duality.
At the center, where the yin and yang meet, sits a DNA double helix paired with the Eye of Enlightenment—linking genetic code to conscious awareness.
The composition contrasts two states of human existence: stationary biological beings created through natural reproduction versus a spacefaring species that transcends planetary boundaries. The yin/yang format suggests these aren't opposites but complementary phases of the same evolutionary journey.
Materials: Golden acrylics on Irish linen provide color depth and durability. The linen is stretched over Baltic birch 12-ply, giving the 60-inch circular format structural integrity.
The painting maps where we came from (fertilized egg, generations of ancestors, DNA) against where we're headed (space travel, multi-planetary existence), with enlightened consciousness as the bridge between biological origin and technological future.
